Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University Strengthens Regional Capacity in Person-Centered Care for Older People


The Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University organized the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Short Course Training: A Person-Centered Care Model on June 20–21, 2026, via Zoom Meeting. The program welcomed 65 registered participants from Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Nepal, Australia, and Bhutan.

The opening report was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Supapak Phetrasuwan, Associate Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, followed by opening remarks from Associate Professor Dr. Ameporn Ratinthorn, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. Their remarks emphasized the growing health challenges of aging populations, multimorbidity, and the need for integrated, person-centered care.

Organized in the Faculty’s capacity as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Development and The MU–JHU NCD Research Collaborative Center, the training enhanced participants’ competencies in applying the ICOPE framework, assessing declines in physical and mental capacities, managing geriatric syndromes, and supporting caregivers.

This initiative reflects the Faculty’s vision to be an internationally recognized as a leading global hub at the forefront of nursing education, dedicated to transforming healthcare and advancing the well-being of humankind, while advancing equitable, evidence-informed care for older people across the region.
