Distinguished colleagues, esteemed nurse scholars, and friends,
Over the past three decades, the East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars has grown into one of the world's most influential academic nursing networks. What began as a shared vision among East Asian nurse leaders has evolved into a powerful platform that shapes policy, transforms education, advances research, and strengthens health systems across our region and far beyond.
Today, nurse scholars in East Asian countries are not only responding to health challenges but leading solutions. Nursing researchers across our nations are producing evidence that enhances maternal and child health, improves care for older adults in our rapidly aging societies, advances mental health support, and alleviates the burden of non-communicable diseases. They are at the forefront of digital health innovations, incorporating artificial intelligence into patient monitoring and designing culturally relevant community interventions that reach vulnerable populations. Their work directly influences national health policies and strengthens healthcare system resilience.
Globally, East Asian nurse scholars are shaping international guidelines, contributing to multinational research collaborations, and publishing influential scholarship that informs practice worldwide. They are addressing urgent global priorities — pandemic preparedness, health equity, climate-related health threats, migrant health, and universal health coverage. Through interdisciplinary partnerships, they demonstrate that nursing science is not confined by borders; it is a driving force for global health advancement.
As we celebrate 30 years of EAFONS, we also envision the next 30 years — a future in which advanced nursing scholarship continues to lead transformation in health systems, empower communities, and influence global health agendas.
As Dean of the Faculty of Nursing in Thailand and as a representative of our country, I am deeply honored that Thailand will host this historic 30th gathering. Bangkok, a city where tradition meets innovation, provides the perfect setting to reflect on our achievements and renew our commitment to our shared future.
From February 18–19, 2027, Thailand’s leading nursing institutions proudly welcome researchers, nurse educators, clinicians, healthcare policy leaders, and students from across East Asia and around the world to Bangkok. Together, we will celebrate the historic 30th Anniversary EAFONS Conference — Celebrating 30 Years of EAFONS: Leading Global Impacts Through Advanced Nursing Scholarship.
This conference will be more than just a celebration; it will serve as a call to action. It will provide 1) an opportunity for emerging scholars to connect with pioneers, 2) a forum where rigorous science intersects with compassionate care, and 3) a platform for East Asia’s collective voice to make a significant contribution to global discourse. Together, let us honor our legacy, strengthen our partnerships, and amplify the global impact of nursing science.
Please join us for this landmark occasion. We look forward to welcoming you to Bangkok!
